Details

Tiny Homes on the Prairie was started in 2018 by Jonathon and Elana Penner, who state they "converted our century old barn into our shop, and started our first tiny house" after 30 years of construction experience. The company builds from a rural address on Rd #31E at Mitchell, Manitoba, and says its homes are "created to withstand the harsh Canadian winters, meeting Manitoba building codes." Its homepage lists CSA certification across three classifications: "Z240 MH (mobile homes), Z240RV (RVs), Z241 (park model RVs)." An April 2025 report in NivervilleOnline adds that the business builds exclusively CSA-certified homes because banks and insurers require it, and that certification requires the build to happen indoors in their facility.

Six models are published with starting prices: Celeste (10ft x 36ft, from $159,900), Opal (8.5ft x 30ft, from $139,900), Dakota (8.5ft x 30ft, from $139,900), Savannah (8.5ft x 30ft, from $139,900), Nordica (8.5ft x 30ft, from $134,900) and Laurel (8.5ft x 30ft, from $134,900). The site says buyers choose "off-grid living, partial service, or full service amenities," and offers custom finishes and appliance packages, plus published Financing and Shipping pages. The Behind The Scenes page states "Our homes are currently built one at a time, in our converted, century old barn."
