Sycamore Tiny Homes

South Shore Nova Scotia builder of code-built tiny homes on skids, from 280 to 398 sq ft, run by Tim and Tammy Kaulback.

Baker Settlement, Nova Scotia, Canada

Details

Sycamore Tiny Homes builds tiny houses on the South Shore of Nova Scotia and operates as a division of Kaulback Property Management Inc. Founders Tim and Tammy Kaulback describe stepping away from large-scale construction and renovation work and spending three years researching tiny-home design and construction before starting the company; they deliberately chose to build homes not on wheels, "with all the amenities of a typical home." The company states its homes are built to code, noting that both the National Building Code of Canada and the Nova Scotia Building Codes now have sections dedicated to tiny homes, and that it works with its local building inspectors. The business is listed in the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg business directory at 4766 Highway 325, Baker Settlement.

Three published plan sizes anchor the price list: a 10'x28' tiny house from $125,000 + tax (6' kitchen with butcherblock counter and farmhouse sink, full-height pantry, 8'x9' sleeping loft, full bath with tub and space for a front-load washer/dryer, full metal siding and roofing); a 10'x32' from $142,500 + tax (main-floor bedroom, two loft spaces with a staircase, 5' sliding glass door); and a 12'x33' or 11'6"x34'6" from $175,000 + tax, which the company gives as its maximum size at 398 square feet. Sycamore also says it will quote partially completed shells on request. The site lists no phone number; the Lunenburg municipal directory listing carries 902-456-3996.
